As a mother of four and grandmother of three, Jane Rudd Volz is affectionately known as “Lolli.” Volz is a breast cancer patient at UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center. To celebrate Volz’s strength, love and resilience, her family organized a walk, which they called "Walking for Lolli." Together, they raised $3,500, which is now going to patient care and programs for families at Brown Cancer Center.
Her children together walked 255.5 miles, their friends walked an additional 469.1 miles, and their grandchildren (ages 5 and 8) even joined in and walked 15 miles!
Elea Fox, director of development for Brown Cancer Center, said, “It is truly, truly a testament to a life well lived and family full of love. Volz's friends and family walked 876.9 miles in her honor. That is absolutely incredible!”
Funds will support the Brown Cancer Center’s M. Krista Loyd Resource Center, which provides patient support services and the KIWI Program. As a mother of four, Volz knows the toll that cancer can take on families. KIWI stands for “Kids Inquire, We Inform.” The program helps the children of parents with a cancer diagnosis to better cope and understand the diagnosis and needs of their parents..
